Strategic Partnership Between SOCAR Fiber and TurkNet

SOCAR Fiber and TurkNet have signed a strategic cooperation agreement to strengthen Türkiye’s internet infrastructure and provide uninterrupted and secure network connectivity.

As part of this partnership, TurkNet will integrate SOCAR Fiber’s 1,850-kilometer express route — deployed along the TANAP natural gas pipeline from the Georgian border to the Greek border — into its own backbone network. Passing near major cities such as Bursa, Eskişehir, Ankara, Sivas, Erzurum, and Kars, this route is embedded on both sides of the pipeline corridor, offering critical redundancy and high reliability. Through this investment, TurkNet will expand its Fiber-to-the-Home (FTTH) infrastructure to more cities, delivering high speed, low latency, and robust connection performance to a wider user base.

Kanan Mammadov, General Manager of SOCAR Fiber, stated: “Our fiber infrastructure along the TANAP corridor, which forms a strategic backbone in Türkiye’s digitalization journey, serves as a bridge not only for energy but also for data flow between countries. This collaboration with TurkNet will elevate Türkiye’s internet infrastructure with a secure, high-capacity east-to-west backbone. We are proud to support the growth of the digital economy by enhancing both domestic and international connectivity.”

Cem Çelebiler, CEO of TurkNet, commented: “As TurkNet, we continue to invest in delivering fast and reliable internet across Türkiye. This strategic partnership with SOCAR Fiber enables us to activate a next-generation fiber backbone that connects Türkiye from east to west in one continuous line. With this project, we will not only strengthen the national internet backbone but also enhance international connectivity. Our goal is to offer faster, stronger, and more accessible internet for everyone.”

Fiber Connectivity from Türkiye to Neighboring Countries

TurkNet currently operates metro fiber networks in over 25 cities and provides services to Türkiye’s major data centers. Through its collaboration with SOCAR Fiber, it will offer low-latency connections both between cities and internationally.

By integrating its infrastructure with SOCAR Fiber’s express route, TurkNet will enable cross-border connectivity reaching the borders of Bulgaria, Greece, Georgia, and Iraq. Through partners in Iraq, the network will also provide a new land route between the Gulf countries and Europe — an alternative to the traditional Red Sea path. Additionally, the network will extend to İzmir and the Aegean coast, facilitating future connections to potential submarine cables landing in the region.

Secure Network Infrastructure from SOCAR Fiber

SOCAR Fiber, a subsidiary of SOCAR Türkiye — Türkiye’s largest direct international investor and leading integrated industrial group — continues to provide backbone network services for telecommunications operators, supporting electronic communications and high-speed internet access. Its 1,850-kilometer fiber optic infrastructure along the TANAP pipeline offers secure connectivity, reaching 20 provinces and 67 districts across Türkiye from east to west.

TurkNet’s Next-Generation Fiber Vision

Operating as an internet service provider and IP carrier, TurkNet designs its fiber infrastructure to deliver low latency, direct routing, high reliability, and diversity. The network offers strong access to data centers and content providers, while its lean, digital-first, and customer-centric approach brings a high-performance and innovative alternative to Türkiye’s connectivity ecosystem.
