Safe Workplace

Employee Safety

We value the health and safety of all our employees and contractors in our facilities and offices. For that reason, we provide training to develop our employees' health, safety, and environmental culture and raise awareness within the organization. This training is repeated at regular intervals from start to end of employment. As such, we educate our employees about occupational health and safety and strive to create the safest work environment.

We support our employees' occupational health and safety skills through several improvement practices. These are Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Awareness Program, Behavior-Oriented Occupational Safety Program, Occupational Health, Safety and Environment Award and Incentive Program, Road Safety Program, Digitalization Studies, On-the-Job Talks, OHS-E Bulletins, Lessons Learned from Events, Field Inspection Program, Nutrition Friendly and Physical Activity Supporting Workplace Program, Incident/Accident Root Cause Analysis Training Program, Hazard Identification Program. Over the next period, we plan to ensure the continuity of OHS-E programs by adding the Road Safety Program, RCA (Root Cause Analysis) Program, All Accidents Can Be Prevented Program, and OHS-E Week activities to supporting applications.

Our Guide is Human Rights

We strive to ensure a safe and healthy work environment for our employees. Our goal is to create the most appropriate conditions for them, in line with our corporate values and ethical principles, by following the principles outlined in the United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights and ILO Conventions. We strengthen the engagement of our employees in an equitable workplace based on equality of opportunity, enabling each of our colleagues to reach their potential.

Starting from recruitment, we take responsibility for ensuring equal opportunity and securing diversity in all our human resources operations. We treat all our employees equally, regardless of language, religion, race, ethnicity, or sexual orientation. We take all necessary measures against discrimination within our organization without compromise.

Facilitating Women's Employment

We take gender equality as a core value for our organization and implement procedures to ensure that all our employees equally benefit from all sorts of rights. We are also mindful of all the responsibilities we have to take to support women's employment. In this respect, we attach particular importance to practices that pave the way for our female employees' professional advancement and development.
We adopt equal pay for work in our remuneration policy. There are only differences in our employees' salaries based on seniority and performance, and we apply the same wage policy to men and women who do the same work.
We see the challenges that prevent our female employees from continuing to work after having kids, and we aim to eliminate them. We act with a work ethic that makes it easier for our employees to work during pregnancy and allows them to return to work in the post-partum period. For this purpose, we create the conditions for our women returning from maternity leave to continue their duties. We also provide them with nursery support services during this period.

Process Security

Heir to a business culture that is innovative, reliable, and sensitive to life and nature, we have the best OSH practices in the industry. We work to ensure the health and safety of all our stakeholders, to prevent major industrial accidents, and to ensure that operations are safe, efficient, and sustainable in the processes we set out by evaluating international standards. With the "SAFE" (SOCAR Aims for Efficiency) OHS system we have adopted, we design our operation and project processes following the strategic structuring and aim to manage the work authorization and process safety systems accurately.
We apply the highest industry standards by constantly monitoring OHS performance indicators throughout our business units, and we effectively manage risks related to Occupational Health and Safety, Environment, Equipment Damage, Business Authority and Impact on Reputation. In addition to the SAFE OHS-E Management System, we also benefit from international management systems standards. In this context, we carry out our activities with ISO 45001 Occupational Health and Safety Management System, ISO 14001 Environmental Management System, and in port operations with our Greenport Green Port certificates.

Process Safety Management

Process safety includes good design principles, engineering, maintenance and operating practices, and proactive measures taken to ensure the integrity of the business and prevent the release of hazardous materials. Such events can cause toxic effects, fire, explosion, loss of life, serious injury, property damage, loss of production, and environmental impact. We are also working to refine processes to ensure occupational health and safety and integrate industry best practices into our business processes to prevent undesirable occurrences.

We manage all processes for scheduled changes to equipment, materials, process control systems, operating systems, applications, and business management in our fields with the Process Safety Change Management (MOC) process. In this way, we identify the changes that need to be made before field applications, make it possible to evaluate them in terms of engineering and administrative disciplines and examine them in detail, test their technical accuracy, and ensure that they are processed into the relevant documents, systems, and software. On the other hand, we identify areas open to improvement and act in this direction.

Multidisciplinary Approach

Once the field changes are implemented, we coordinate the Pre-Commissioning Safety Review (PSSR) processes to ensure that all necessary audits have been completed and that everything that can be controlled is safe. We manage the field examination and checklist assessment operations on a multidisciplinary basis. To prevent incidents that endanger the security of processes in facilities, we investigate the causes of similar incidents with our technical teams, classify them and carry out incident analysis processes.

In line with the SAFE OHS-E Management System and industry best practice principles, we provide training on various topics as part of the Process Safety Management System. We monitor and report key performance indicators monthly within the Process Safety Management (PSM) scope. In addition to all these studies, we carry out investigations to monitor and implement the requirements that are obliged in terms of compliance with the legal legislation.
