Aligned with the vision of sustainable development and a low-carbon economy, we continually expand our R&D and innovation capabilities to meet the demand for high-value petrochemical products requiring advanced technology in the hydrocarbon sector.
We are thoroughly integrating the 5S methodology into our sustainability initiatives. We developed the Capacity Increase and Carbon Footprint Reduction Project within this framework by implementing 5S in product packaging and storage areas. This project earned us the Silver Award in the 'Successful Team of the Year' category in the competition organized annually by the Turkish Quality Association, Izmir Branch.
We implemented four productivity-enhancing projects as part of our energy efficiency and conservation efforts. In 2022, the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources provided our company with approximately 900,000 TL in cash grant support for these projects. Additionally, two new productivity-enhancing projects were examined by the Ministry in 2022 and received approval for implementation. At Petkim, we take pride in contributing to implementing these ongoing projects within our factories. With SOCAR Türkiye R&D, we will continue developing pioneering applications that contribute to a sustainable future.
Our RES (Wind Energy Plant) project, completed in 2017, consists of 17 wind turbines with a total mechanical capacity of 51 MW. We aim to disseminate Petkim RES's impact on renewable energy generation and internationally certify the greenhouse gas emission reductions achieved by the project. In line with this goal, we support the activities conducted under the Global Carbon Council (GCC) Voluntary Emission Reduction Certification.
TC Ministry of Environment, Urbanisation and Climate Change is conducting efforts to transpose the EU Integrated Pollution Prevention and Control (IPPC) Directive into national legislation. As Petkim, we supported the Determination of Türkiye's Industrial Emission Strategy (DIES) Project under the IPPC framework. In the project, we participated as a project partner for the chemical sector in establishing the IPPC system infrastructure, conducting sectoral compliance analyses, and determining the requirements.

We reduce operational burdens through Robotic Process Automation (RPA). By applying the Design Thinking methodology within our digital ecosystem development efforts and employing advanced analytical modeling enhancements, we contribute to optimizing our production processes.

In January 2020, we were the sole company selected from Türkiye for the World Economic Forum's (WEF) 'Global Lighthouse Network.' This recognition, within a platform that identifies the best implementers of Industry 4.0 standards in production facilities, fills us with pride, as it has bestowed upon us the esteemed title of 'Factory of the Future.'
We support an integrated working model with 11 projects of varying scales, including the Information Technology Integration Project 'Project Earth,' preparing the infrastructure necessary to unify our operations into a single system and operate standard processes. This enables end-to-end tracking of procurement processes and consolidation under a single report.
Our over 50 years of R&D experience sheds light on the future with technologies designed under the umbrella of SOCAR Türkiye. Ongoing efforts at SOCAR Türkiye R&D aim to develop innovative, sustainable, efficient, environmentally friendly, and market-focused products and catalysts for all our stakeholders.
