SOCAR Türkiye Releases Its Social Impact Report

SOCAR Türkiye has published its Social Impact Report covering the 2020–2024 period, highlighting the direct contributions of its projects in the fields of volunteering, environment, disaster response, healthcare, and education to societal development and individual well-being. Shaped by the company’s “People First” approach, these projects stand out for their responsiveness to local needs, multi-stakeholder structure, and sustainable impact. This approach not only brings hope to communities and a sense of belonging to employees, but also creates opportunities for youth—reflecting SOCAR Türkiye’s commitment to embedding social value into all areas of its operations.

As Türkiye’s largest direct international investor and most prominent integrated industrial group, SOCAR Türkiye has released its Social Impact Report analyzing the outcomes of its corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives implemented between 2020 and 2024. The company views social responsibility not merely as an obligation but as a strategic tool for value creation. Guided by this perspective, it has designed volunteer-based projects aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), expanding its social impact year after year. Over the five-year period, dozens of initiatives across environment, health, disaster relief, education, and volunteering were implemented, significantly broadening the company’s societal outreach.

One of the highlights of the report is the Social Return on Investment (SROI) analysis, which quantifies the value generated by these projects. The analysis revealed that for every unit of investment made, approximately three units of social value were created. Notably, volunteer and sports programs in the Aliağa region created meaningful and measurable transformation within the local community.

In the field of education, activities ranged from supporting girls’ education and donating libraries to offering technical and vocational training programs and providing digital tools. These efforts were carried out in partnership with 15 different NGOs. In terms of environmental impact, over 400,000 saplings were planted, 16 parks were maintained, and coastal clean-up initiatives were organized.

In the area of disaster relief, SOCAR Türkiye Volunteers played an active role following the February 6 earthquakes, delivering in-kind and financial aid supported by employee contributions. In healthcare, the company contributed to expanding the capacity of Aliağa State Hospital and establishing a new burn treatment unit, significantly improving healthcare access in the region.

The report also presents valuable data on the personal development of SOCAR Türkiye Volunteers. According to the findings, 91% of volunteers reported improvements in emotional well-being, 90% noted increased awareness of social and environmental issues, and 81% said their professional and interpersonal skills improved—demonstrating that volunteering has a transformative effect not only on society but also on individuals themselves.

Sports programs led by Petkim Sports Club in Aliağa strengthened social cohesion and engagement. According to the results, 92% of participating children showed improvement in personal and social development, while 86% demonstrated mental and physical progress. Parent surveys revealed increased interest in sports, the development of family exercise habits, and an overall improvement in quality of life. 88% of parents stated that these activities had a positive effect on their well-being.

Overall, the report presents key insights that reinforce SOCAR Türkiye’s approach to creating lasting social value. By placing the “People First” principle at the core of all operations, the company views social impact not just as an outcome, but as a strategic component of sustainable development. SOCAR Türkiye remains committed to investing in initiatives that touch lives, strengthen communities, and generate long-term societal benefit.
