SOCAR Türkiye Promotes Equal Access to Knowledge with “Pocketbook Project”
The Pocketbook Management Series, a UK-based collection of concise guides on business and personal development, is now available to Turkish readers thanks to the leadership of SOCAR Türkiye and the support of Middle East Technical University (METU).
The launch event for the Pocketbook Project — an initiative by SOCAR Türkiye, Türkiye’s largest direct international investor and leading integrated industrial group — was held in Ankara with the participation of Vice President of the Republic of Türkiye Mr. Cevdet Yılmaz. The event marked the official release of 40 Turkish-language titles from the internationally recognized Pocketbook Management Series, which are now available free of charge to readers.
Speaking at the launch event, Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz remarked: “These works, covering a wide range of topics from management and marketing to financial literacy, communication, teamwork, and leadership, offer practical insights that are easy to understand and directly applicable to daily life. They avoid overwhelming theory and instead bring real value to individuals. The flourishing of brotherhood between Türkiye and Azerbaijan — not only in politics and economics but also in science, culture, and education — is a source of great pride for us. What starts today with forty books will grow into a vast digital library of hundreds of titles, creating a lasting foundation for the democratization of knowledge. These practical yet powerful resources — small enough to fit in your pocket, strong enough to expand your horizon — will surely contribute to Türkiye’s development journey. I encourage our youth to visit the project’s website. I thank SOCAR Türkiye for leading this meaningful initiative and METU for their valuable contributions.”
SOCAR Türkiye CEO Elchin Ibadov added: “We are proud to offer this rich collection of resources on management, marketing, and personal development to our country through the Pocketbook Project. Our aim is not only to support a culture of lifelong learning, but also to ensure equal access to knowledge, to inspire innovative thinking in business, and to contribute to the intellectual capital of society. By making these books available for free on a digital platform, we’re enabling people from all backgrounds and age groups to benefit. We are deeply grateful to Vice President Mr. Cevdet Yılmaz and to all the academics who supported us in this meaningful project.”
Fostering a Culture of Lifelong Learning
The Pocketbook Project goes beyond encouraging individual learning — it aspires to make learning a shared societal value. The initiative promotes educational equity, innovation, creativity, and easier access to knowledge through a sustainable and inclusive approach. By offering Turkish readers a rich and accessible resource, the project supports personal development while adding long-term value to the nation’s intellectual landscape.
Free Access to the Books
As part of the initiative, a total of 100 titles are planned for translation, with the first 40 already available for free on www.cepkitaplari.com.tr. The UK-origin Pocketbook Management Series covers a variety of topics such as management, finance, marketing, communication, leadership, and teamwork. Featuring visually enriched, concise, and easy-to-digest content, the series appeals to a wide audience — from professionals to students — making learning more engaging and accessible.
