Trans Anatolian Pipeline Project (TANAP), which aims at increasing security of natural gas supply of Turkey and diversifying supply sources, has been successfully connected with Trans Adriatic Pipeline (TAP), which will have great contribution to energy security diversification of supply sources of Europe. Another important step has been taken in Southern Gas Corridor with this connection.
The golden weld between TAP (Trans Adriatic Pipeline) project, which aims at natural gas transmission to European market from "Shah Deniz-II" natural gas field of Azerbaijan, and TANAP was successfully completed under the supervision of TANAP and TAP representatives along the riverside of Evros at the Turkish-Greek border. Through this golden weld, TANAP with a total length of 1850 km passing through 20 cities and 67 districts has been connected with TAP, which will transport Azerbaijan's natural gas to Southern Europe.
“From Turkey with Love”
TANAP employees welcomed the successful connection process in a humorous way. TANAP team shared a photo from the field, referring to the James Bond movie named “From Russia with Love”, and wrote “From Turkey with Love” on the pipe.
Azerbaijan's natural gas will reach Europe through Turkey
The natural gas drawn from Caspian Sea will be transported to Italy over Greece, Albania and Adriatic Sea. Southern Gas Corridor consists of TAP with a total length of 878 km, of which 550 km will pass through Greece, 215 km through Albania, 105 km through Adriatic Sea and 8 km through Italy, TANAP and South Caucasus Pipeline (SCP).
