TANAP, our giant project with a value of 8 billion US Dollars to serve as the Silk Road for energy, was opened in a gorgeous ceremony held in Eskisehir under the auspices of Recep Tayyip Erdogan, President of the Republic of Turkey, and attended by Ilham Aliyev, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
Hosted by Berat Albayrak, Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, the opening ceremony was attended by the presidents of the five countries, and Rovnag Abdullayev, President of SOCAR, Saltuk Duzyol, General Manager of TANAP, as well as the senior executives of the project stakeholders namely SOCAR, BP and BOTAS.
Recep Tayyip Erdogan, President of the Republic of Turkey, expressed his opinions regarding TANAP as follows: "This project was realized based on the mutual trust between Turkey and Azerbaijan. TANAP is the last fruit of our common vision, which is a precursor of the brand-new projects to be initiated in the next years."
Ilham Aliyev, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, said regarding TANAP: “Turkey's power means our power. We are today making the energy history of Turkey together. TANAP is the common victory of Turkey and Azerbaijan."
Appearing on the stage to deliver his speech during the opening ceremony, Rovnag Abdullayev, President of SOCAR, said: "We have always put our trust in Turkey and the Turkish economy. TANAP, we are opening today, will serve as an indication of our fellowship and collaboration constituting the basis of this trust," and continued his words: “TANAP is equipped with a capacity of 16 billion cubic meters, 10 billion cubic meters of which will be exported to Europe as of 2020. The additional future investments will increase the capacity of TANAP to 31 billion cubic meters."
