PETKİM Container Port: The Gate that Opens from the Aegean to the World...
PETLİM Limancılık Ticaret A.Ş. was established in 22 November 2010 as 100% participation PETKİM for developing the PETKİM Port, operating it more economically and, consequently, making the PETKİM Port “The Biggest Integrated Port of Turkey”.
While the necessary investments are being carried out to increase the handling capacity so as to meet the current and the future needs of the peninsula, an international cooperation has also been initialized in order to grow in the field of logistics support and to start the container operations in the port. PETKİM Container Port, which, for the first time in Turkey, will enable the berthing of ships with 11.000 TEUs, will possess a starting capacity of 1.5 million TEUs. A total of 48 hectares of logistic field will be created as 42 hectares in the port field for container storage and 6 in the rear service area. Our port and logistic investments will make Aliaga, which is one of the most strategic industrial regions of Turkey, one of the biggest integrated logistics centers of our country along with its other ports.
A new epoch is being marked in the ports of Turkey thanks to the strategic cooperation with the APM Terminals, a global giant in container terminal operation. An agreement dated 22 February 2013 for the long-term operation of the port was signed with APM Terminals, which is a globally renowned container port operator and the official signing ceremony was held under the auspices of Turkey's Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Prime Minister of Denmark at Copenhagen in 20 March 2013. APM Terminals will stay in our port for 28 years as operator.
The Petkim Container Port will provide a significant acceleration for Turkey’s target of 500 billion US dollars of export and 1 trillion US dollars of foreign trade in 2023 and it will be our country’s new gate that opens to the world.
