R&D & Innovation
SOCAR Research and Development & Innovation has been incorporated in 2019 as a subsidiary of SOCAR Turkey for the purpose of providing R&D service to SOCAR Turkey group companies and various legal entities providing service in the fields of petrochemicals, refinery, storage and gas distribution.
The purpose of incorporation of SOCAR R&D and Innovation is to develop innovative, sustainable, environmentally friendly and market-driven products, new fields of application, catalyst and digital technologies for all stakeholders involved in the value chain, and to enhance the efficiency of the production processes in line with the vision of SOCAR Turkey to become an integrated energy company adding value to all stakeholders as based on economic and social responsibility.
SOCAR R&D and Innovation, which is committed to making use of its experience of 51 years in R&D for enabling all of its stakeholders to achieve their objectives, has been licensed on June 13, 2020 by the Ministry of Industry and Technology of the Republic of Turkey. SOCAR R&D and Innovation Center, situated at the premises of SOCAR Turkey Refinery and Petrochemicals Business Unit, provides service at 6 laboratories, pilot plants and offices located on an area of 1.200 square meters.
Its fields of activity involve catalyst researches, green chemistry, sustainable, clean and efficient energy, value-added products, energy transition, digitalization and environmental solutions. Thanks to the open innovation model it has adopted, SOCAR Research and Development & Innovation materializes the collaborations carried out by and between the universities and the industry in a target-oriented and determined manner.
Based on the environmental awareness of all of our group companies, operating in the chain of energy, refinery and petrochemicals, SOCAR R&D and Innovation is committed to becoming involved in the research and development & innovation projects covered by the Horizon 2020 - European Green Deal Call that aims the European Union's transition to carbon-free economy by 2050.
Currently, SOCAR R&D and Innovation is involved in 2 Horizon-2020 projects (CARMOF and CO2 Fokus) in the field of Carbon Capture, Storage and Utilization (CCSU). NEFERTITI, another project of us which is qualified for being funded by the Horizon-2020 programme and aimed at producing precious chemicals from concentrated solar power, will be launched in 2021.
