SOCAR Aliağa Terminal: The Largest Integrated Port of the Aegean Region
Petlim Limancilik Ticaret A.S. (Petlim) was incorporated on November 22, 2010 with an aim to develop and operate the Petkim Port in more economic terms, and to build the "Largest Integrated Port of the Aegean Region".
While Petlim was incorporated as a fully-owned subsidiary of Petkim, 30% of its shares were acquired by Goldman Sachs, one of the leading global investment banks, in the last quarter of 2014. This port, built by Petkim, was realized in order to complete the logistics-integration stage. The amount of investments, made in the port, amounted up to 400 million US Dollars, including the financing costs.
As part of the strategic cooperation entered into with APM Terminals in container port operation, the first phase of the port with 800 thousand TEU was commissioned on 06.12.2016, and it was started to be operated by APM Terminalleri Liman Isletmeciligi A.S. The second phase of the port was commissioned on 04.07.2018, and the port started to operate in full capacity.
All of the shares, held by APM Terminalleri Liman Isletmeciligi A.S., were acquired by SOCAR Turkey Enerji A.S. on 27.12.2018, which resulted in amendment of the Company's trade name to read as "SOCAR Aliaga Liman Isletmeciligi A.S.". The port is currently being operated by SOCAR Aliaga Liman Isletmeciligi A.S. (SOCAR Aliaga Terminal).
SOCAR Aliaga Terminal maintains its operations in line with the integration vision and missions of SOCAR across Turkey while it protects the-then port management system and operational structure of the port.
Having an integrated dock structure of 700 meters and a minimum water depth of 16 meters, SOCAR Aliaga Terminal is the first and only port management to provide service to the ships with a capacity of 18.000 TEU efficiently in the Aegean Region. Equipped with a handling capacity of 1.5 Million TEU containers, the terminal is the largest terminal across the Aegean Region.
Having a logistics space of 42 hectares and 6 hectares on the port reach and support services area, respectively, for container storage, the terminal also embraces a general cargo dock extending 150 meters long and reaching a depth of 10 meters. The general cargo dock of SOCAR Aliaga Terminal is equipped with a carrying capacity of 10 tons/m2, and an additional storage area of 30 decares can also be provided for project cargo shipments that require storage.
With many innovations, a strong infrastructure and a set of values introduced to both customers and ship operators, SOCAR Aliaga Terminal continues to add values to both the Aegean Region and Turkey.
